I Do what I do because I was once my client
Looking back at the small-town girl from Nigeria, West Africa, who started as a customer service representative in Nigeria before growing through the ranks and moving to a foreign country to build a six-figure career in project management, I’m not only amazed at how much is possible if you are about to open for continuous learning; I’m further convinced that, with the right strategies, every professional can achieve the life and earning they dream of.
I started as a customer service representative with British Airways and moved to consulting. Even though I continuously managed projects at my corporate job in Nigeria, I didn’t see myself as a project manager, nor did I get the opportunities accessible to project managers. When I got to the US, I bought into the myth that getting a corporate job with my Nigerian degree was impossible despite being evaluated by a reputable organization.
I've Had My Fair Share of
'Trial, Error, and Repeat'
This false belief drove me to pursue a career in nursing like every other immigrant. But after the first year, a realization struck – nursing wasn’t my calling. Researching roles matching my skill set unveiled that for the past decade, and my entire career revolved around project management.
I secured my first US Project Management job in three months by conducting skill mapping, acquiring required certifications, and in-depth training.
